Today I went to a Relief Society "Fall Social". There was a quilt on the racks for tying, socializing, lunch, and games. The theme of the social was "Stone Soup". Everyone just brought anything and everything to add to the soup. It was amazingly, good soup. And, of course, there was a stone put into the soup and the person who dished up the stone got to pick a prize. There were tons of prizes on the stage and everyone there went home with at least two. It was good fun. On the way home, I decided to go pick up a few groceries then at the last minute, I decided to head up to the cemetery. On the way there, I spotted this tree, still holding onto it's brilliance.
Most of the trees in the cemetery are pines so there weren't too many that had dropped their leaves on the ground. This part of the cemetery has very few headstones.
As I got under the tree that was in the previous picture, you can actually see how barren the tree is getting. I thought it looked interesting, so I took a picture of it.
As I was headed out, I noticed a magpie by a bush along the side of the road. Just for the fun of it, I stayed in my car and started snapping pictures of it. Inching closer and closer, snapping pictures all along the way. I was really surprised that he wasn't flying away. It wasn't until I was a little more than a car length away and was in the middle of taking this picture when he decided to bolt.
This cedar tree was along the side of the road on one of the back roads I took to come home. It was still so pretty and green. I chuckled at the tree because it looked like a hitch-hiker tree to me, holding its thumb up trying to get a ride.
These berries were also along the side of that same road. I don't know if they are wild rose bushes or what. But what I do know is they were very pretty with their dark red color standing out among the faded greens.
When I got home, I still marveled at the tree in our front yard. It is still pretty loaded with leaves and just as beautiful as ever.
When walking into the house, I noticed these leaves lying on the lawn. We have some type of climbing vine that runs up our chimney and the few leaves remaining on it are the most vibrant red color. I don't ever remember seeing these leaves this color in the fall previously. All I can say is.....WOW! Who knows, maybe God just wanted to make my day!
