Loaf of Bread on Road

Do you ever see something and think to yourself…..hmmmmm…I wonder what the story is behind this.  Well, that is what happened to me yesterday as I was driving around town looking…………looking for what?…..well, nothing…..just looking.  You never know what you are going to see that will make a photo moment.  As I was headed down the road, I spotted a loaf of bread at the side of the road.  As I passed it, I thought to myself…..is that really what I thought it was…. so I turned around, just to make sure.  Yep, that’s what it was, a loaf of bread.  Then I started thinking about all kinds of ways that loaf of bread could have wound up at the side of the road.  Some of my thought were pretty funny.

Dive-Bombing Barn Swallows

This little barn swallow looks so sweet and innocent.  Well, I’m here to tell you it’s not.  We have the parents and about 5-6 young ones that dive-bomb every time I go out the door.  I’ve never seen them dive-bomb humans before…..until this year.  They usually just go for the magpies but this year they have taken on humans and cats.  They sit on the wires right next to our home…....waiting..….just sitting and waiting for me to step out the door…….then swoosh…….silly birds.

Mouse Pouncing Coyote

Yesterday as I was outside, I spotted this coyote out hunting for mice.  He/she was a bit further off than my camera wanted to zoom to get a clear picture, but I still took pictures and a video.  Even though blurry, it's not something you get to see everyday..............

He/she, was back at it again this morning.  Like yesterday, I watched for quite awhile and it could care less if I was there or not.  Even though for the two days I watched it pounce and pounce, I never did see it catch anything.  I think I need to send my cat out into the field to show him/her what to do.

September 2016 Visiting Teaching Handout & Poster

As I was reading through the upcoming September 2016, Visiting Teaching Message, I knew this message had to be made into a handout/poster.  I made smaller sizes to give as handouts to those I visit teach and a larger size to post in our Relief Society room.
It seems I remember when President Monson gave this quote in the October 2008 General Conference.  It was spoken from his talk
‘Finding Joy in the Journey’.  I have read and seen this quote numerous times throughout the years.  What a beautiful message for us…….to always remember the importance of loving a person, before solving a problem.

Daughter & Grandson Visit + Friends

My daughter and her son came to visit on Wednesday (August 10th), the second week in August.  The following day, her friend and her two children arrived.  We really had a good time.  When my daughter, her friend and her children went on adventures, I got to babysit my little grandson.   Y.E.A.H!
On the 11th, Brooke (my daughter’s friend) went up to camp Loristica (girls camp area) and we were following.  The road was pretty rough so we decided to turn back and go to a campground and sit by the water.  It was such a beautiful day.

The next evening, we did our tradition (whenever company visits) out doors roasting hotdogs and s'mores.  My little grandson had so much fun roasting a roasting stick.

On Saturday, while the others went playing, I spent time with my grandson.  He thought it was so fun hanging clothes pins from his shirt.
Sunday, after church, Brooke and her two children left for their home but my daughter stayed another day.  On Monday, we took our "little" to two different parks………….fun.

I sure miss them when they leave.  The house gets awfully quiet.

Visiting Teaching…..Be Creative…..Poster

I’ve seen this saying by Bonnie D. Parkin, in a few places on Pinterest.  I love the simplicity, yet profound meaning of this quote.  I decided to create a poster to possibly hang on the bulletin board in our Relief Society room.

Cupcake Roses

A month or so ago, I was looking on google images trying to find some graphics to use in my posters and handouts.  In my searching, I happened to come across a cupcake that looked like it had a rose sitting on the top of it.  I thought it was so unique and pretty so I started searching YouTube until I found out how to make them…..

From watching and seeing that this was certainly a possibility for me, I hopped on over to E-Bay to find the Wilton 2D cake decorating tip.
When it came time for me to decorate my cupcakes, I didn’t bother making the frosting, I just used a tub of Better Crocker, cherry flavored frosting.  I found that I could decorate 12 cupcakes using one tub of frosting.

For the cupcakes, I used a boxed white cake mix.  To fill my cupcake liners, I put all my batter in a gallon Ziploc baggie, cut the bottom corner off, and pipe in the batter…..easy.  The combination of the white cake mix and the cherry frosting tastes really good.
Making these cupcakes turned out to be as simple as You Tubers were saying.  You can decorate each cupcake in 5 seconds, or less.

Give them a try…………..I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how easy it really is making rose cupcakes.  They make a nice treat to share with family, friends and neighbors….looking look like you spent a lot of time in the kitchen and like you really know what you’re doing – Ha!

What a Beautiful Day of Aweness

How beautiful my little corner of the world is.  Yesterday morning, it was a bit cloudy and cool outside so I went out, before church, and sat in my swing and took in all the aweness.  I know, aweness is not a word, but it works for me…it’s awe, just taken up a notch – right!?

God Allows U-Turns

The other day while I was searching for quotes to send out on my “Nightly Thought” e-mail, I came across this saying…..God Allows U-Turns.  LOVED IT!  Right away, I knew this saying/quote was something that I needed to turn into a poster or a handout.  Somewhere along the way, this will definitely be used, someplace!

I made smaller ones (each one being 3-3/8” x 3-3/8”), fitting 6 to a page.  I thought I would print them out on photo paper, attach a small magnet on the back, and use them as refrigerator magnets.
How wonderful the gift of repentance is…..A Divine Gift, given to us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
