Saw Blade Scenery

I was driving around this past Sunday, enjoying everything!  It was absolutely a beautiful day.  I was traveling down a dirt road when I noticed this sign cut out of what looked like a huge, circular saw blade, hanging high up, attached to two log poles as an entrance to someone's driveway/lane.  I thought how cool it looked to have the pieces cut out and the clouds continuing to add an artistic touch.

As I continued to take pictures, I got a glimpse of just how a little bit of technology could ruin a scene…..as they say in the movies – CUT!  Yep, there it is….a tow plane with a glider soaring right through the middle of my picture.  To me it was funny and I just sat there in my car and chuckled.

Mini Cheesecake Containers

I had purchased some packages of Keebler “mini” Ready Graham Crusts some time ago and decided I’d better do something with them because they had an expiration date on them that stated they would be best used before July 05, 2013.

I was going to lunch with a group of friends the following day so I decided I would make some mini CHEESECAKES…..Yes!  I love cheesecake, especially when making my easy, go-to-recipe.  I’ve had this recipe for over 35 years and it still works and tastes as fantastic as it did back then.  One recipe will fill one regular sized graham cracker crust or 12 mini crusts.

After getting all the cheesecakes made, I thought….hmmm, what could I put them in to take to lunch with my friends that would keep them from sliding around and getting mashed?  Then it occurred to me that my sister, Janis, had saved me a bunch of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) containers.

Well, let’s see……would they fit – absolutely – almost like they were made for that reason.

These little containers were the perfect fit, having a slightly domed lid.  Even after having the lid on, then taking it off again, my little cheesecakes still looked great.

The containers also made it a stable surface to hold the pie tins while eating my little cheesecakes.  Mmmm-m-m-m-m!  Still a great recipe, after all these years.

Four-Point Bucks & New Sling Swing

Earlier this past week, I was out sitting on our new two-seater sling swing that our daughter, Brittney bought for us back in May.  Love, love, love this swing.  Since having it, I have sat out most every evening and enjoyed looking at our beautiful country view and watching our little crew of hummingbirds.  I’m telling you, this is the most comfortable yard swing that I have ever sat on.  I think I have used this gift more than any other gift I have ever received.  It’s been wonderful sitting out in the evenings, and best of all………….NO MOSQUITOES in sight.  I guess that’s one good thing you could say for a drought year.  Without the moisture, you get no mosquitoes!

Here is a picture of our daughter and son-in-law, Corey, putting together our new swing.

Anyways, back to the story………..as I was sitting there enjoying the evening, 3 four-point bucks entered our yard and were eating the apples off our tree, obviously, they had not noticed me sitting there.  I kept very quiet and observed them walking around eating apples from the tree when a thought occurred to me……….wow, what a photo opportunity (didn’t have my camera) and yep, besides apples, deer love to eat plants and at the beginning of the summer season, I had purchased $75 in hanging plants.  Hoping to really put the scare into them and get them off the yard, I jumped up swinging my arms and hollering at the same time.  Just as suspected, they were high-tailing it out of our yard and out through the hay fields on a dead-run.  Friday morning as I was looking out our dining room window I noticed that two of the little bucks were back in our field.  I took many pictures, not knowing if they would work or not because the deer were a ways off, down by the wheel line.

After loading the pictures on my computer, many of them were blurry so I went back to get in some more shots but the little bucks were not there.  I looked all over but could not see them.  You know the old say about not being able to see something right in front of your nose.  This is where that saying comes in…………..those little four-point bucks were once again standing on the yard, eating apples.  I decided it wasn’t going to do me any good to scare them off because in all reality, they would just keep coming back so I just had me a photo opportunity taking pictures from the windows of our home.

Orangish Blue Sky – Beautiful!

It had almost stopped raining so I went out the back door to look at the puddles on the yard.  The pine trees and the wooden fence had an orangish glow to them so I came back in the house and looked out the front room window and the sky was in total awesomeness!  There was even a smidgen of a rainbow showing through.  Where it was darker, the rainbow did not show up in my photos but the sky showed up in all its brilliance!

After taking the photos of the sky I came in the house and sat in the chair when I heard the rain pounding our roof.  Yeah!

Just a thought………..do you think God got his artistic talents from his Heaven Father or his Heavenly Mother?
