A Good Day, Indeed

It's been a good day, indeed.  It started off by having waffles and eggs for breakfast.  I'm a waffle kinda girl, through and through.  I love the crispy outside with the soft insides and all those little holes to hold the butter and syrup.  Then to top off the deliciousness of it, I added my over-easy fried egg which has a special seasoning on it that is home made by a lady that lives here in the valley.  I'm not sure but I think she calls it barbed wire seasoning.  Whatever it is, it's good stuff.

After eating breakfast and playing on the computer for a bit, it was time for a spiritual feast.  It's a privilege to get to watch all sessions of General Conference on television.  We watched two sessions today and we'll get to watch two more sessions tomorrow.  All sessions start at 10am and 2pm with each one lasting two hours.  Kind of puts you on a spiritual high, and that's a good thing.

When the day was all said and done, the Lord left us with a promise!  Ah-h-h-h, like I said, it's been a good day!

Famous Artist

Oh yeah.....yesterday morning had a eeriness of beauty about it.  Looking out our dining room window I could see that the valley was banked in with white, low lying clouds and yet the clouds higher up were much darker, tinted all yellow and orange.  I wonder who the artist was that thought this one up?  Must be someone pretty famous, would be my guess!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Coconut Cookies

I made these delicious Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Coconut Cookies this past weekend and here it is, five days later and the few we have left are still moist and great eating.  I love a good Oatmeal Cookie and if you like that kind of cookie, I would suggest going to the following blog and getting the recipe for yourself...........you won't be disappointed, I promise.  The recipe states to cook them for 10-12 minutes but I only cooked mine for 9.5 minutes and they turned out great.  I used my large cookie scoop, which holds approximately 1 1/2 TB of cookie dough and it made 4 dozen + 9 cookies.  Enjoy!

Turning Over A New Leaf

After the past few days and the next few days that are predicted to come, I'm ready to turn over a new leaf, literally.  I'm ready to trade out the old, brown leaves for some new pretty green leaves.  The leaves pictured here are just along the side of our driveway, just waiting to give way to the green.

I am so not a winter person.  It has it's moments, rare moments, that I get excited about but nothing compared to Spring and warmer temperatures.  Although, I do love a good fall with the onset of the holiday season.  Contradicting myself, huh.  But really, I am ready to see a little green.

Time Out For Women - TOFW

Last weekend, my two daughters and my sister met me in Idaho Falls for a nice get-a-way.  My oldest daughter purchased some tickets on line a month or so before hand so that we could attend TOFW (Time Out For Women).  Wowziers!  The program ran for two days...........Friday night - 6:30pm till 9:30pm and Saturday - 9:00am till 3:45pm.  It was an awesome two-days fill of music, laughter, and spiritual uplift.  My husband used to be a crop loss adjuster, earning a free room at the Le Ritz Hotel in Idaho Falls.  We, my husband and I, never used the free room certificate so guess where we, the girls, my sister and I spent Friday night.  It was a pretty nice place to stay, with two queen-sized beds and a pretty spacious area for sitting around.

Wow, would you look at this line, and this wasn't even the half of it.  It ran over three hall ways long.  Once it started moving though, it didn't take us that long to get to our seats.

This was the line up of speakers and singers for the Saturday program.  If you would like to view the details, you can go here.  And oh, did I mention that Jericho Road was the singing group?  Just thought I would throw that in and make ya a little jealous.  To hear a sample of what this group sounds like, you can go here and click on the orange circles for a partial listening of their songs.

The picture below is of myself, my daughters, and my sister.  If you ever get the opportunity to attend a TOFW, I encourage you very strongly to do so.  This event marked one of the highlights of my life.

Now for my homecoming party - I pulled into my yard with 8" of snow on the ground.  Here we haven't had hardly a trace of snow all winter and then it all falls in one day.  Go figure.  It sure was pretty for the whole day it lasted.  I wanted to go out and take some pictures but as luck would have it, I got sick the next day and was housebound for two days, missing my one and only winter photos for the year.  I guess I shouldn't speak two loudly or we might get dumped on again.  But, I guess that's ok, we need the moisture.

House For Sale

We have had such gloom and doom skies around here the past few days.  This morning when I got up and headed towards town, it was lightly snowing.  By the time I got to town, it started coming down much heavier and within an hour or so, we had about an inch of snow.  This afternoon, it was still gloomy towards the mountain/hills.

I decided to drive part way up the mine hill to get a shot of Mt. McCaleb because it looked to be the only bright spot around.....the sun was shining right on it but by the time I got to a good place to take a picture, some of the brightness had left.

A little ways up the hill, I spotted this lonely, little pine tree standing all by it's self on the peak of the hillside.

Coming back down, I decided to take a photo of the road to show you how wet and muddy it was. I'm thinking my car came out on the messy end.  I didn't look at it when I got home but when I was driving through it, I could hear the mud flipping off the tires and onto the car but further down the road were some pretty good water puddles so I drove through in hopes of washing off some of the mud.  Yukka!

After passing the bridge and about 1/4 mile down the road, I noticed this for sale sign.

I'm hoping it was for the property and not the house.  The house, I don't think is making a very good statement for a sale.

Mackay Moon

Am I supposed to start howling, or what?  My husband just called me into the dining room to look outside at the moon.  These pictures do not even do the moon justice.  It was so big and so bright.  The following pictures were taken right on the verge of darkness.  I've got to read up on how to take pictures of the moon because my moon pictures are, well, it's better if we don't put it into words.  Let's just say that maybe practice will make perfect.  At least you will get an idea of what our Mackay Moon looked like tonight.  It was gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.

Over The River And............

Just a few randomness pictures to enjoy.  These first three pictures were taken earlier in the week when I went back across the river on Houston Road to see if I could see any more turkeys.  No turkeys, but some scenery I thought worth shooting.  It's amazing how on one side of the road it was cloudy and gloomy and on the other side of the road it was sunny with a beautiful blue sky.

I took these next three pictures today.  Get this, I went to a wedding reception and sat there with a group of people waiting for the bride and groom to show up.  Fifty minutes later, they made there presence.  Never did find out why they were so late but it was pretty comical and everyone had a good time visiting and eating while waiting for them to arrive.  After leaving the reception, I decided to take a ride up towards the reservoir and take a few pictures.
