Mr. Moose – Our Personal Tree Trimmer

Mr. Moose was on our back yard again this morning.  When we first spotted him, he had his head in our flowering crab apple tree, eating away.

No, no, no!  This wouldn’t do.  I wanted some MOOSE Pictures and I wanted them full view.  I had our dining room window open so I started tapping on the window and calling moose, moose.  It worked, he came right out into the open.

Here is where I decided to brave it.  I opened our back door very slowly and stepped out on the porch, being sure to leave the door open in case I needed a quick escape.  I took measurements and I was exactly 38 feet (12 yards 2 feet) away from Mr. Moose.  Ok, I’ll save you trouble of saying it…..what was she thinking…..doesn’t she know how dangerous a moose can be.

Look how small our clothesline pole, changed to a hanging plant pole, looks in comparison to Mr. Moose.

After talking to him in very friendly language, he decided to move on, crossing over our fence. But of course, when he crossed the fence, he moved back over to the trees so I couldn’t get much video coverage.

After crossing the fence, he stayed close to our yard so I started out very slowly, then ran for cover by our vehicle so I could get some more pictures.  He kept his head down eating fresh pasture with a mix of grass and alfalfa so out came my moose, moose call.  You can tell how how much my moose, moose call intimated him.  And, oops………sorry you had to witness his little potty break……….life happens.

There is a catch here with nature.  I love to see Mr. Moose but he sure left a mess in his path.

But, I guess there’s always a bright side.  Just yesterday, I was telling my husband that we needed to trim the tree branches that lined our driveway because every time we walked towards the house, we needed to duck and move other places to avoid getting wacked in the head with low branches.  Look what Mr. Moose did for us………No more low hanging branches.

WICKED – The Untold Story of the Witches of OZ

This past week, I attended three live plays….one of them being the Broadway Play, WICKED…showing at the Capitol Theatre, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  I love seeing plays and watching the talents of others.  If given the opportunity, I could see a play every week.  But this, Wicked, was the play of all plays.  I never realized how magnificent Broadway Plays could be.  The scenery, costumes, actors………………..All wonderful!

They were very strict on taking photographs, of any kind.  My son-in-law was just going to take a picture of us all sitting together and a lady approached us and said it was prohibited.  We weren’t even facing the stage but like I said, they were very strict about photos.  There was a flyer inside the program that stated: The taking of photographs and the use of recording devices are prohibited by law and can be dangerous to the performers.  The only problem with this was that it was inside the program, which we hadn’t opened yet, so how were we to know this if we hadn’t opened our programs?  (Oops, as I was posting my ticket stub, I noticed that it is on the ticket about cameras.  Aside from that, what a wonderful, wonderful evening.  Oh, and to top it off, it was my oldest daughters birthday – what a birthday, huh?!

Before attending, I thought to myself….people are nuts to spend that much money just to see a play.  Well, this is where I eat my words/thoughts.  If given the opportunity, GO!

The Capitol Theatre is one of Salt Lake County’s most beloved buildings and has been a Downtown landmark since 1913. Today the Capitol Theatre is known for its elegant turn-of-the century architecture and serves as the home for Ballet West, Utah Opera, Children’s Dance Theatre, and Broadway Across America — Utah.

Before the play, we were going to eat at “The Cheesecake Factory”.  When we arrived, it was an 80 minute wait time, time we didn’t have, so we looked around and found a place called “Tuscan BRIO Grille”.  It was a nice evening so we asked if we could sit on the patio to eat.  Good food, fun atmosphere.

 

I know it was my daughters birthday, but it was such a special evening and now I think about it, it felt like it was my birthday, too!

Crazy For You – A Musical Comedy

A short time ago, I went to Lehi, Utah to visit family.  It was a fabulous week.  Besides myself and other family members, my two daughters, son-in-law, and grandson were also there.  The first night I was there (August 1st), one of my daughters, my cousin, and I all went to see a live play “Crazy For You”.  This play was fabulously hilarious.  It was just a good old home town play, but it was good enough that I went again a week later with my other daughter and the same cousin.  It lasted over 2 hours.  The play was presented by the Lehi Arts Council and was held in a pretty small place, seating a little over 100 persons.  The second time around, we were front row and center……talk about being part of the play….we were that close – FuN!  I thoroughly love seeing live plays.  Each time you see one, even if it’s the same play, you see different things.  Happy time!

In Crazy For You a stage-struck New York boy, in the 1930’s, Bobby Child, is sent to a small, poor town in Nevada to close down the local theater. Soon Bobby falls in love with the theater owner’s daughter, Polly. In order to save the theatre, he dreams up the idea to put on a show to raise money for the theatre. It shows how anything is possible when you have a dream and good friends to make it happen.  In the end, the town is reinvigorated, the theatre is saved and Bobby finds love.  The story proves how love can conquer all, even when you don’t see it at first.

Hot Chocolate Chip Cookies

My daughter came up this past weekend and wanted to make some cookies from a recipe she had gotten from a friend.  The following site is where the recipe came from.  These are a very rich cookie but the taste is fabulous.  With visiting family this past weekend, these cookies were gone in no time!  My husband really liked the cookies so I made another batch yesterday and they are almost gone.  They get their chocolate flavoring from hot chocolate and they have 3 kinds of chips…….white chips, semi-sweet chips and milk chocolate chips.  The recipe also calls for two cubes of butter.  Now you know why they are so rich.  These cookies are worse than potato chips…you definitely can’t eat just one.  Give them a try and enjoy chocolate bliss!
