January 2017 Visiting Teaching Handout & Poster.......Relief Society Is a Temporal and Spiritual Work

The fact that the Visiting Teaching message starting off the new year is "The Purpose of Relief Society", tell me how important visiting teaching really is.
In the last part of the message, the Prophet Joseph Smith stated this: "The Relief Society was not just another group of women trying to do good in the world.  It was different.  It was 'something better' because it was organized in priesthood authority.  Its organization was a necessary step in the unfolding of God's work on earth."
Carole M. Stephens, First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency, said a lot in one statement......Relief Society is a Temporal and Spiritual Work.
I pray that all LDS women will take heed to this message and feel its importance in looking out for one another....tending to needs and being of service.

Thanksgiving 2016

First off, I thought I'd better get Thanksgiving posted before Christmas came (4 more days).  Ha!
Go figure, for Thanksgiving, we went to our daughters home and our other daughter came up from Utah and I didn't get  any T.H.A.N.K.S.G.I.V.I.N.G  D.I.N.N.E.R pictures.  Aggghhhhh!  I did, however, get some pictures of a drive we took the following day.  We headed up the road towards Kelly Canyon and after driving a few miles up, there was a truck that seemed to have skidded on the ice/snow and was turned sideways in the middle of the road so we had to turn around and come back down.  I took a few pictures as we were coming down the mountain....

After we got back down, we decided to park our vehicle and go for a walk along the river.  It was pretty cold so we all bundled up, wearing our coats, hats/hoods, and gloves.

A lot of our trail/road looked like this.....
And then a lot of our trail/road looked like this..... making some little side-of-the-road detours a must!
We came across a point by the side of the road where a beaver had chewed down a tree.
And we came across some cattails growing in a marshy spot.  I loved these cattails - beautiful!

By the time we decided to head back to our vehicle (somewhere around 2:30), it had warmed up a bit and we were shedding our hoods.  What a wonderful Thanksgiving...spending time with family.

Last of the Hay...11-21-16

This post has been a long time coming.  After all, I only took these pictures on the 21st of November.
After a load, or two, or three...., this was the last load of hay to leave out property.

December 2016 V.T. Handout/Poster - Joy

The Visiting Teaching Message for the month of December is "Family Joy Is Found In Righteousness".  For me, I find this statement to be so true.  When we are living in accordance to the will of our Heavenly Father, things just seem to go better.
I chose the part for my handout/poster that states.....Joy Comes When We Choose To Live In Harmony With God's Eternal Plan, by President Russell M. Nelson.  This message just fits in with the Christmas season.  Joy...........ahhhhhhhh!

1234567 Odometer…Lil Mike’s…the Caramel Tree…and Leaves

Wow, these photos were taken way back at the first of November (November 5th) and I’m just now getting around to blogging about it.  Anyhow, on November 5th, my husband and I headed across the desert to visit with our daughter and her little family and to pick up a few items that we can’t get where we live.
As we were traveling across the desert, the odometer on our vehicle turned to “123456.7” so we pulled off alongside the road and took a picture of it.
My husband dropped me off at our daughters home while he went to get a few things and when he came back, we all went out to lunch.  We went to a place called “Lil’ Mikes”.  The menu is posted on the wall and the food was good enough that I would go there again.
Here are some photos that I took of the inside.

This next picture of my little grandson looks like he is thinking…..”hey gran-ma, can you tell what I’m thinking?  He is such a cute little bug!
After eating, we walked around the corner to a place called “Caramel Tree”.  WARNING….some really good stuff in there.  If you are on a diet of any sorts, do not enter!

I love the look of the old tiled ceiling.
And this saying that was posted on the wall.
It was time to head back to our daughters home and let some little man play in the raked leaves pile.

A little mischievous person got a wee bit close to the camera lens!

It was such a nice day and our time had come to an end as we needed to drive across the desert to get home before dark.  Driving around dusk at our home is taking danger in your own hands.  From dusk on into the evening, a lot of deer come out and more times than I care to mention, they seem to get in the road.  If you like your vehicle, we, and most of the local people in our area know to really slow your speed as the sun starts to go down.
